Something Rotten! opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre in previews on March 23, 2015, and officially opened on April 22, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with the sets designed by Scott Pask, costumes by Gregg Barnes and lighting by Jeff Croiter. The production closed on January 1, 2017 after 742 performances. It was nominated for ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and won one (Christian Borle as Best Featured Actor in a Musical).
Welcome to the Renaissance! Yes, the 1590s when Shakespeare was a rock star know as "THE BARD." Surprisngly though, not everyone was under his spell. Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom were struggling playwrights hopeful to write their own masterpiece. Desperate, Nick seeks out a soothsayer who convinces him the future is something called "a musical." Will this be what catapults them to fame? We will find out tonight.
