Michael has performed on stage throughout Virginia for such venues as Riverside Center Dinner Theater (Fredericksburg), Out of the Woodwork Productions (Spotsylvania), Acting for Young People (Fairfax), Taking Flight Theatre Company (Loudoun), Pieces of Eight Lab Theater (Leesburg), Fauquier Community Theatre (Warrenton), Shafer Alliance Laboratory Theatre (Richmond), Theatre VCU (Richmond), and Piedmont Players (Culpeper). His favorite credit to date is The Lost Colony outdoor drama on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Other stage credits include Deathtrap, Six Degrees of Separation, You Can’t Take It with You, The Lion in Winter, Henry V, The Adventures of Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Shakespeare’s R+J, and The Elephant Man. Film credits include CAIN (Dir. John Cappello) and Vitals (VCU Kinetic Imaging).
While studying with Theatre VCU, Michael was also employed seasonally by the historic Landmark Theater as a professional wardrobe crewman and stitcher for touring productions, where he had the privilege of dressing Disney’s The Lion King and War Horse Broadway National Tours. In addition, Michael worked intermittently as a makeup artist for the Rappahannock EMS Council, where he designed and applied trauma makeup for semi-annual NREMT testing.
Michael began his foray into directing in Richmond. Credits include Click, Goldilocks on Trial, and selections from Doctor Faustus (Christopher Marlowe), Hamlet (William Shakespeare), Tape (Stephen Belber), and Some Girls (Neil LaBute). Michael is also passionate about fight choreography. As a pupil of fight master David S. Leong and fight directors Aaron D. Anderson and Kevin Inouye, Michael earned his broadsword certificate from the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) in 2014. He hopes to achieve the status of SAFD Actor Combatant by mastering two additional fight disciplines.
Michael would like to thank the following: Mom and Dad, Leah, Jackie, Travis, Meagan, Matt, Tania, and Joe for their enthusiasm for the performing arts and their willingness to help; and most of all, his lovely wife for her nonstop support and love throughout this endeavor.
Look for Michael onstage this summer in Musical Therapy, a new musical comedy directed by Jessica Dubish, premiering at Capital Fringe Festival.
