The Play That Goes Wrong - November 11 - November 12, 2022

Canon McMillan

 Director's Note

I grew up observing and loving the laughs of my family members. It was and is their lifelong gift to me. I can still close my eyes and hear the laughs that came from my Uncle Bob, or the distinct laughs that my uncle Jim, Uncle Joe, and Aunt Lisa make,  just to name a few.  And with loving the laughs of other people, I found a love of everything related to comedy.  Who doesn't love to laugh?  According to the Mayo Clinic, laughter improves your mood.  It can help lesson your stress, depression, and anxiety and improve your self-esteem.

Throughout the rehearsal process of this play, I've apologized many times to my cast and crew for my loud bursts of laughter.  They have created hysterical comedy on stage.  Each time they stepped foot on stage, I found myself laughing more and more.  That was their daily gift to me.

My journey as director would not have been possible without the help of my fiance, Jason, our kids and my family/friends.  I also am nothing without the BEST Fine Arts team made up of Sarah Boice, costumer and Rob Montini, tech director.  Each one of us also have students that help to make our shows bigger, stronger, and funnier.  We are grateful for them.

I have had the pleasure of working with these wonderful and talented adults and students.  All the students both on and off stage make me love what I do each day.  They've poured their hearts into creating this comedy and this is their gift to us all.

I hope you laugh. And then laugh some more.

Love,
