Director’s Note: After two years without a musical, it’s great to be back! It’s also great to return with this show, Schoolhouse Rock, Live! Having grown up watching and loving Schoolhouse Rock cartoons on Saturday morning meant that I had to do this show, and I did…..in 1998. It was my first as director at the Senior High and was presented as the Thespian Troupe’s spring production, which used to follow the annual All-School Musical in March. I directed the Thespian Troupe musical every year until it folded in 2014. During that time, I added directing the All-School Musical and the only way we were able to present two musicals every year was because I have always been extremely fortunate to have amazing staff members to make it possible. I chose Schoolhouse Rock, Live! in 1998, again in 2012 when several staff members moved on and new ones moved in, and again this year because it is such a versatile show that regardless of the circumstances, like rebuilding a time-honored program I inherited, it allows an incredible amount of flexibility to showcase our strengths while laying the groundwork for continued success in the future. Oh yeah, and its fun, up-paced tempo and familiarity with so many audience members make it a blast for us as well as (hopefully) all of you. Thanks for coming and for your support. Enjoy!
