Welcome to BHS Players’ production of Pride and Prejudice! Bringing Jane Austen’s timeless story of wit, love, and social expectations to life has been a wonderfully rewarding journey. For many of our cast and crew, this play has been their introduction to Austen’s world—a world of elegant ballrooms, spirited banter, and, above all, enduring truths about human relationships.
As we set the stage for the lives of the Bennets, Mr. Darcy, and all who orbit them, we invite you to look beyond the period costumes and decor to the heart of the story: the importance of integrity, humility, and love. Our creative choices—echoing themes of paper, ink, and oversized books—highlight the power of storytelling and the written word, capturing our hearts and imaginations across generations.
This production would not have been possible without the immense talent and support of so many. A special thank-you to Gretchen, whose stunning costumes transport us back to Regency England, and to our producer, Mike Millett, whose timeless wisdom has guided us at every step. To Paul, our lighting designer, your work has brought each scene to life, and to set builders Paul and Clair, thank you for building Austen’s world on our stage. We’re also deeply grateful to Amanda, for organizing lunches and potlucks, keeping our cast and crew well-fed and energized.
We’d like to extend a huge thank-you to all the students working tirelessly behind the scenes, including our stage manager, Olivia, for her steady hand, and Camile, for her wonderful choices in music. Your efforts, creativity, and dedication have brought this story to life in ways beyond measure.
Thank you for joining us on this journey to Regency England. Enjoy the show!
