Shrek The Musical Jr - November 10 - November 12, 2022

Brownsburg Middle School Choirs

 End Notes

From the Directors:

We are incredibly humbled and thankful for the outstanding students in this production, and for the gracious and patient parent team who stands behind them.  We're always amazed at the growth and passion we see from our students, as we move through those 6:30 morning rehearsals.  As weeks went by, we watched friendships begin, confidence grow, and skill surpass expectations.

As students worked on their scenes, and parents worked behind the scenes, the magic of team work and theater began to grab ahold of our hearts, once again.  There were many rehearsals that left us with teary eyes, because we were just so proud of the strides our students were making!

This group is one of the most gracious, kind, and others-focused groups we've ever had on this stage.  Time and time again, these crew and cast members jumped in to get the job done - even when it wasn't their "job."  No complaining.  No arguing.  Just hard work and heart.

This show is filled with belly-laugh moments.  And, as we worked through the script, full of life lessons, as well.  There are moments, probably for all of us, that we feel like the unloved green ogre.  We've endured unkindness and loneliness, and maybe we've put up walls to protect ourselves.  As we see in this story, there really are people who can see and love us, even if we don't look like everyone else.  It's our hope that all of us can learn to appreciate the gifts within us; to embrace the people around us, and to look for ways to make a difference in the world.

We will walk away from this musical with renewed hope, full hearts, and positive anticipation for the future with these amazing students!  They are difference-makers, artists, musicians, care-givers, creators, organizers, leaders, and friends.

Students, we admire you.  We are proud of you.  And, we are so very thankful for you.

From our hearts,

Your Directors: Kelly Isaacs, Teresa Fowler, and Jamie Varvel.
