Broadway Theatricals

 Directors Notes

The Motto of Broadway Theatricals is "Theatre With Purpose!" Here at 'BT' we strongly belive that as actors and staff we are contantly fighting to find our "purpose." This principal of "purpose" encompasses everything that we do at BT, from choosing the play, to making blocking-choices onstage, to deciding which elements should stand out to the audience design-wise.

When the Creative Team from Broadway Theatricals decided to produce "Proof" we decided that our purpose was to 'educate.' However, we didn't want a show that was easily digestible. We wanted to present something mind-stimulating to the audience. "Let's put on a show that only through verbally-processing through what one just saw onstage, only then can the audience member find truth in what they believe to be true."

"Proof," whether mathematical or psychological, is the journey towards truth. Mathematicians, like playwrights, are creataive souls. With an outline or diagram, building connections, using symbolism, metaphors and elements of surprise, a good proof reads like a good story. David Aururn's play, Proof, is a narrative that leads the audience turn by turn through an unfolding story with exciting variables and eloquently seeks a solution.

However, this journey does not require a degree in math, unless it be the math of human behavior. Proof has us looking for truth, exploring the delicate territory between genius and instability; love and trust. Auburn puts these peices of the puzzle out in our own backyard so that we may decipher for ourselves the organic truth. Humorous, compassionate, engaging and fresh, Proof is an inspirational and intelligent masterpiece.

We hope you enjoy tonights' featured presentation, and come back again for future Broadway Theatrical productions.
