DIRECTOR'S NOTE
I am so proud of the hard work that has been put into this show. Everyone from the cast, crew, and parent volenteers has put in so much effort to make sure Once Upon a Mattress is a success. Every morning I come to work and cannot believe how lucky I am to be in a place with such talent and generosity. I've been welcomed with such open arms, and I'm so honored to be a small part of the history of BMS Drama.
I've wanted to direct Once Upon a Mattress for a long time now. I've always loved the story. On the surface it's whimsical and fun (after all, the orginal production starred Carol Burnett). However, it's also got some pretty great themes; "different" isn't always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it's necessary. Accepting others for who they are is necessary for our "kingdom" to move forward. Heroes can be found in the least likely people.
For my 8th graders, thank you for letting me be a very small part of your lives. You guys move forward and flourish!
I sincerely hope you all enjoy this production of Once Upon a Mattress as much as I have enjoyed directing it.
