Fun! When it is all said and done, that is what I hope you, our audience, will have experienced. Fun. From the music. From the story. The characters. The incredible cast and crew. The scenery. The costumes. Props. The dogs... Fun. Because that's what this show is. And what makes it so great for me is that it doesn't try to be anything else but that. There isn't any great or deep message. It doesn't try to teach any lessons. It has been created to entertain and it does so very well.
I love this show. It makes me smile. It makes me wish that it had been around when I was the right age to perform in it. When I hear the music, I can't help but move. That's why I needed to choreograph as well as direct. It gave me my chance to dance to this fun and upbeat score.
I have worked with Tiffany Weagly from the the first year that she came to Boone. My wife, Tara, and I have created the large group musical numbers for the past 8 years with Tiffany. This is the third mainstage show that I have directed here, and this one holds a special place in my heart - for many reasons with one big one being the chance to direct my son and his friends. They are great kids and you should ALL be proud of them. I know I am. If you are here to watch your kids, your siblings, your grandkids, friends, peers, students - congratulate them. They have worked VERY hard to entertain you.
And, finally, if, when you exit the theatre tonight, you leave smiling then we have done our job.
Oh, and check out that big PINK proscenium! How cool is that?
