The African Grove Theater was established in 1821 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side by William Henry Brown. Through countless hardships, the Company successfully mounted a number of Shakespearean Classics, and original plays before finally being burned to the ground in 1826. This riveting, often funny two act drama chronicles the story behind the origins of the company, and how their faith in the creative spirit sustained them.

In 1929, famous New York stockbroker Bill Wilson crashes with the stock market and becomes a hopeless drunk. Dr. Bob Smith, a surgeon from Ohio, has also been an alcoholic  for thirty years, often going into the operating room with a hangover. Through an astonishing series of events, Bill W. and Dr. Bob meet and form a relationship, each helping to keep the other sober. This is the amazing and often humorous story of the two men who pioneered Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as the story of their wives, who founded Al Anon.

A young man returns home from WWII with his new Italian wife and mother-in-law, to meet his traditional Irish parents. The two cultures collide over everything from religious differences, to food and drink. When the two mothers are pushed to the limit over a “territorial kitchen incident” that send tempers to the boiling point, the Son and Daughter are forced to look to one another  to save their marriage & sanity.
