Carrie Mills
Director/Choreographer
Ms. Mills originally hails from Allentown, PA and earned her B.A. in Theatre from Penn State and her M.F.A. in Theatre for Young Audiences from Arizona State University. She has worked onstage and in the education departments of regional theatres across the country including The Utah Shakespearean Festival, Missoula Children's Theatre, People's Light & Theatre Company, and Asolo Repertory Theatre. She made the leap from the professional theatre world to the classroom in 2007 and teaches the Drama and Musical Theatre classes at BMS while also serving as the VPA Curriculum Leader. In addition to teaching fulltime, she’s worked locally in Sarasota with Musicians Out of the Box, The Players Theatre, The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and Venice Theatre. She would like to thank her husband, Henry, and Alice for their support and understanding and offers heartfelt shout outs to Matt Jarvis for the shared brain and Christine Reagan for keeping her sane.
Matt Jarvis
Musical Director
Matt Jarvis is the Chorus and Musical Theatre teacher at Booker Middle School and is in his 5th year serving in this position. Having lived his entire life in Florida, he earned his B.M. in Voice Performance as well as his M.M. in Choral Conducting from Florida State University. Prior to moving to Sarasota, Matt was a voice, piano, choir, and theatre teacher in the Tallahassee area. He has performed on stage in many roles in both musicals and operas, and has music directed countless musicals. Outside of the classroom, Matt sings with 3 professional choirs in Florida and serves as Handbell director for First Presbyterian Church. He wants to give thanks to his amazing BMS team, particularly Carrie Mills and Christine Reagan who work tirelessly together to make productions like this work so well!
