From the Director:
This is always the hardest part about doing any show. You would think that it would be the easiest part after all the trials and tribulations that we have gone through since December. I can honestly say that this show has been different from the very beginning. On night one of auditions, the cast blew us away singing “Hard Knock Life”; I remember looking at the creative team and seeing them all grinning. I knew at that moment we were going to have a great show.
The challenge of this show was the casting, we are blessed to work in a school with so many talented children. It’s also a nightmare when there were so many parts that we could have put two or three people in and casting could have gone so many ways. “Maybe” they could do this or, “Maybe” they could play that. Ultimately, I think we made the right decisions and chose the best possible cast for this show.
You are in for a real treat tonight and I am glad you chose to support this program with your attendance. I ask that you go out and encourage others to come and witness the dedication, talent and motivation that all of us have put into this production. Also, I ask that you let me know if there is something you think we can do to continue to make this a quality program for our students and for you as a patron.
To our eighth graders, we are one big crazy family and I am one proud papa of the growth in you per your talents and accomplishments both on stage and in the classroom. Some of you started this program as quite little church mice in “Charlotte’s Web” and now inspire our community, your peers and many adults with the examples you set. I look forward to seeing what you do with your future and I look forward to bragging about how I knew you when…
Not only are we blessed with talented students but I am blessed to have many talented parents, grandparents, and friends who volunteer time and time again to do whatever we ask. I am sure there is something more that you would rather be doing with your time than wrapping silverware, folding programs or painting and building set. You remove items from your homes and make thoughts become reality; so that we can have the props we need. You drive miles hanging posters, cooking, or picking up this and that. You make it feel as if this program is on “Easy Street”, with all that you do for us. You all do what you do, so that we can make this program the best possible experience for “OUR” kids. Not only do you do all of this but you do it and all with a smile. Then you return to ask what needs to be done next, again with a smile and you always ask if there is something else. This program wouldn’t be as successful as it is without your continued support and dedication to “OUR” children and me. Thank you just doesn’t seem appropriate enough or big enough to amount to the work and love you give us!
