Mary Poppins - April 06 - April 08, 2017

Barton Junior High

 End Notes

Ten years…TEN YEARS!  How has it been ten years since we began doing musicals at Barton?  Each year, we are blown away with how God introduces us to new faces full of talent.  This year we had over 70 students audition to be in Mary Poppins.  This production has been a dream of mine for years since it is my childhood favorite!  I am so very excited to have the opportunity to fly Mary into El Dorado.

Jeannie, I am so glad that you had the desire to start doing musicals at Barton. The memories you have from musical productions you were in inspired you to make these memories possible for our students.  I can’t imagine doing all of these musicals with anyone else.   We have made so many fun memories, and I'm looking forward to many more!

Sally, we are so glad that you joined us in this venture two years ago.  I don’t know what we ever did without you!  We are thankful for you and all you do for our cast and us.

To all of our make up, hair, and backstage helpers, we couldn't do without you guys. You know hair and make up is not my thing!  Year after year you make our cast members look just like the characters they portray.  Needless to say, keeping 45 junior high kids quiet and organized backstage is no small task.

To our cast, thank you for your hard work and dedication.  You have helped to make a dream of mine a reality.  For that, I will be forever grateful!  Always remember “Anything Can Happen if You Let It!”  Keep a song in your heart!

Mary Poppins challenges us to find the magical in the everyday.  In her hands, umbrellas fly, carpet bags hide endless treasures, and a day in the park becomes a “Jolly Holiday.”  This story leaves us with a message about discovering the extraordinary world around us, even if things look bleak.  In Mary’s own words:

                                   “Broaden your horizon

                                    Open different doors

You may find a ‘you’ there

That you never knew was yours”

Thank you for coming and supporting our cast and the arts in El Dorado.  We hope you have a SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS time!

Enjoy the show!

Andria Gleghorn

This show is dedicated to the loving memory of Mrs. Lois Sample, mother of Jeannie Strother.  Her love for music will continue through her daughter and our cast members for years to come.
