 Who's Who

  • Hilary Dennis head shot

    Hilary Dennis

    as Belle

is honored to be making her Pioneer Valley stage debut as Belle. She grew up in Grafton, MA, where she performed some of her favorite roles (including Polly Baker in Crazy for You and Kim McAfee in Bye Bye Birdie). A foray into organic farming brought her to Amherst, where she drives a tractor, manages a field crew and grows organic vegetables. Hilary recently completed an acting intensive at New Century Theatre in Northampton and is currently filming a short indie piece called The Cult of Ammon. She first saw Beauty and the Beast in theaters in 1991, and has had the opening monologue memorized ever since.

  • Chris Rose head shot

    Chris Rose

    as Beast

would like to welcome you all to the show. He feels privileged to be a part of this show and cast. He would like to thank the other cast, crew, et al for the fun throughout the process. He has enjoyed his second performance with Arena Civic Theatre. Some of his previous favorite roles have included Robin Hood with Mutton and Mead Medieval Festival and Ed in Ghost Light Theater's Production of Evil Dead: the Musical. You can also see him in Pioneer Valley Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker. Finally, his two fondest wishes is that the show gives as much joy for you as it does for him and to have a quiet day without the furniture talking back.

  • Joe Johnson head shot

    Joe Johnson

    as Gaston

After being harshly rejected by Belle, Joe Johnson (Gaston) returned to the village and kindled a relationship with Silly Girl #3 (Naomi Edelman); the two are engaged to be married in July 2017. Though he has played cello since age 7 and sung in a variety of ensembles, Joe is making his debut to the stage in this performance with Arena Civic Theatre. Joe would especially like to thank Naomi for introducing him to acting, sister Kate for traveling from Wisconsin to see the show, and all of his other supporters traveling from near and far to see him perform.
