Adapted from Tom Stoppard's 1998 award-winning movie, Archbishop MacDonald's Advanced Acting and Technical Theatre programs bring to life Shakespeare's burgeoning career before he became the GOAT. Prior to his eloquent poetry, one imagines Shakespeare's trials and tribulations with writer's block as he stoops to find his muse after his Two Gentlemen of Verona is almost a hit. Interspersed throughout the play, one can catch inspiration for Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, and touches from his tragedies, Macbeth and Hamlet. Focusing mostly on his foibles rather than getting lost in his prose and verse, there is romance, humour, wit, sword-fighting, chases, and bits with a dog.
