Dover Foundation

 Welcome

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

I would like to thank you so much for supporting this Dover Foundation production of Neil Simon’s Rumors. He actually wrote this play when he was going through a very difficult time in his life and created this, his first farce, as a distraction.  Simon remarked “I wanted to work because work is always a cathartic process for me, and I thought it would be really good just to get into a comedy”.

It has been my honor to bring this Neil Simon creation to the Dover Foundation Stage and have been blessed by a wonderful cast and production team.  We have been working on this production since January and the cast has put in countless hours perfecting all aspects of their performance.  I can honestly say that I laughed at every rehearsal and enjoyed watching each character develop over the last four months.

The Dover Foundation, led by its president Jane Taylor (otherwise known as Chis Gorman in this show), continues to bring to the local stage high end theatrical performances as it has done for the past 71 years.  It is a wonderful organization to be involved with, and I urge each and every one of you to join them in some capacity, whether on stage, production or crew.  I can promise that you will enjoy the experience while at the same time helping deserving students achieve their goal of a college education.

I hope you enjoy the show and again I thank you so much for coming to this performance.
